Commissioning
Commissioning is a popular buzz work in the Green Building era and from a MEP standpoint, making sure that the systems you are buying, new or existing, are installed and operating as designed just makes good sense. E&C provides MEP commissioning services for any building, new or existing.
E&C has provided commissioning services to Owners since the 1990’s when we began reviewing drawings for operability and aiding Owners in ensuring that their buildings operated as designed. Back then, we were not called Commissioning Agents, but we were simply Engineers hired by Owners to be their representative on the Engineering side of the project.
Problem Solvers
Building Commissioners should be Engineering problem solvers, not simply people who fill out a pre-determined checklist. E&C uses registered Professional Engineers to perform building commissioning. With Engineers on commissioning projects, we can truly review Design Engineer’s documents for constructability, operability and serviceability. We do not try to change other Engineers’ designs to match our own, we understand what they are looking for and simply make recommendations if there are any items or documentation that might be unclear to the contractor, especially when it comes to building controls. At project start-up, prefunctional or functional testing, if MEP systems do not operate quite as intended, our Engineers can make on-the-spot recommendations in the field regarding how to make slight changes to ensure the Design Engineer’s intent is met.
