The Health & Biomedical Sciences Building was programmed as a six story building and a central plant to serve the building and expansion capability that attaches to the existing Optometry Building at the University of Houston. The first floor consists of a vision laser center and an ambulatory care facility. The second floor houses mostly offices and classrooms. The third floor consists of dry computational laboratories. The fourth floor is where the wet labs are located and the top two floors house the vivarium for the research animals including rodents and non-human primates. The building was programmed at approximately 150,000 square feet, with $70 million in programming.
The Health & Biomedical Sciences Building II was programmed as a nine story building and a central plant expansion to serve the College of Pharmacy as well as provide clinic space and laboratories for the University. The building attaches to the existing Optometry Building as well as the Health and Biomedical Science Building I creating a growing campus of health related laboratories and teaching facilities at the University of Houston. The first and second floor consists of a clinics. The third floor houses mostly offices and classrooms. The fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth floors consist of research laboratories. The sixth and seventh floors house the College of Pharmacy offices, laboratories and teaching labs.
