UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON

Project: University Center Transformation, Houston, Texas

Description Of Services Provided

The University Center Transformation will be separated into two phases. Phase I included the demolition of the existing UC Underground to make way for a new Two Story North Expansion of approximately 68,000 square feet that will house Student Services and Student Government. The East Expansion of approximately 52,000 square feet included a new theater, kitchen and meeting space. All existing levels of the UC (200,00 square feet) were renovated to include new dining, lounges, retail, food vendors, games rooms, convenience store, complete with all new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. One of the key features of the transformation was to create a new air conditioned public area that is currently referred to as the Arbor.

To make way for the new construction the site required the relocation of all existing utilities and the relocation of a major IT Hub that serves the existing UH Campus. Phase I was scheduled for 18 months and started in June 2012. Phase II was scheduled for 12 months and started in January 2014.
